Hey there buddies!
Well, school decided to end my social life, as expected. I am more than sorry for being so inactive, though I cannot do anything to fix what’s done. I can talk to you about my very own drama; The Vampire Diaries, the series I am now watching on Netflix, will leave Greek Netflix in 3 days, so I must finish the seventh season by then. I will stop now cause I don’t want to keep torturing you. Your question? Why am I here and not in Netflix? Hmm, I don’t know. Just super excited to finally post you abouuuuuut:
Stardoll History – All you need (or don’t need) to know!
So let’s gooo
There’s that usual question about when stardoll was created.
Person no.1: It was created in 2004
Person no.2: No, it was created in 2006!
Person no.1: Google doesn’t say so.
Person no.2: But stardoll celebrated its 10 years anniversary in 2016!
And blah blah blah.
Ermi’s here to enlighten you a lil’ bit:
In 2004, a good lady named Liisa Wang, created a website called Paperdoll Heaven. Have you ever heard of this name before? You might’ve spotted it under Stardoll’s logo:
Couldn’t be more obvious. It’s even in bold letters…
Now, there’s this other thing (don’t worry no cringy dialogue this time) about whether Stardoll and paperdoll should be named as the same websites. I am not really sure, though it’s hard to call Stardoll the newer Paperdoll heaven as they both still existed until… a while. Yep, that’s right. Paperdoll Heaven was there last time I checked, meaning a few months ago. But now it’s not. Gonna complain to Stardoll about that, be sure. Nevermind, Paperdoll Heaven looked like this before it was gone:
And like this in 2004:
Pretty cool right?
One of the provided links is this one here. No, not yet. Just spell this with me: potato. Gooood boy. Now, you can see how PHD used to look like a long time ago.
So, let’s get to our actual point: the history of the actual actual Stardoll.
In February of 2005 you could create your own account in PDH. Nothing like today’s Medolls, but it was something, right? In March-April of 2005, there was quite of a big change in PDH. Not only the layout was completely changed (the colors also changed, from red-white to pink-purple), but it was even renamed! You could now find it using the famous link www.stardoll.com! You can see what it looked like below:
Just like every new site, Stardoll kept improving and adding new features. In 2006, it gained quite a lot of members, as it added the section we would never live without: shopping! You could also create an actual MeDoll! You can sneak a pic of it here:
As you can see, it kept becoming prettier and prettier 🙂
The graphics of this pic suck, so I am here with a better option. It’s called “potato vol.2“. Now you can see everything in old stardoll! Don’t try to create an account though; you will be sent right into new stardoll. Sucks, but it’s something, right?
This is 2007:
2008:
2009:
2010:
2012:
From 2012 to 2014, the sign-up page remained the same, with slight differences. To be more specific, here’s the sign-up page of 2014:
Completely different than the one of 2008-2009:
So I think I’ve told you everything I know on this topic. An honorable makeup is the blog The Stardoll Chatterbox. There was a specific post in it that completely inspired me and I basically got over half of my images from there. I visited a lot of blogs and pages, but none of them helped me as much as Chatterbox did. Thanks!
So, that’s it for today. Gotta watch some TVD now. Ttyl!
With lots of respect, yours sincerely… who am I kidding, I am posting in a dress-up game’s blog, not writing a letter to the USA president.
See ya buddies!
Ermi ♥
